Username Aliases

API Only

User aliases are managed under RP Applications > Application Properties > User Management > Alias in the HYPR Passwordless API.

Adding an alias to a username allows HYPR authentication to associate other username formats with the email format accepted by HYPR authentication.

Many times after registration, users cannot change their username, which they must supply in the exact spelling on all subsequent authentication attempts. Very often an email address is the username, expected it to be case-insensitive during authentication. A user may try to login to a system with a different username than the one in the HYPR database. For example, she is registered in HYPR with an IdP email address as a username, but is trying to ssh to a Linux server using her local username.

Associating an alias eases authentication across systems. Unlimited aliases may be tied to a single username.
